What is the connection between employee engagement and job satisfaction?

Employee engagement and job satisfaction are related but distinct concepts. Employee engagement refers to the emotional investment an employee has in their job and organization. Job satisfaction, on the other hand, refers to the overall attitude and feelings an employee has towards their job.

Generally, employees who are engaged are more likely to be satisfied with their job, but not all employees who are satisfied with their job are necessarily engaged. For example, an employee may be satisfied with their job because they have a good work-life balance or good benefits, but not necessarily because they are passionate about the work they do or feel a strong connection to the organisation.

Therefore, the connection between employee engagement and job satisfaction is that a high level of engagement often leads to job satisfaction, but not always. To foster both employee engagement and job satisfaction, leaders and managers should strive to create a positive work environment that supports employee well-being and supports employees in finding fulfilment in their work.
